METU Formula Racing, a Formula SAE team founded in 2015 by a group of 6 students, is one of the project teams within METU Robot Society.

MANY INTERNATIONAL RACES

The team, which designs and produces "Formula" type racing vehicles for the Formula Student races, which are held every year on race tracks in many countries around the world and are considered the world's most prestigious engineering competition among international undergraduate and graduate students, participated in Formula Student Czech Republic, FSGermany, FSEast, Italy and UK races with the internal combustion engine vehicles it produced until 2021. The team is taking firm steps towards successfully representing our country and METU with the vehicles it will produce in the Electric Vehicle and Autonomous Vehicle categories as of 2021.

METU TOGETHER WITH TEZMAKSAN IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

The Formula Racing team has recently crossed paths with Tezmaksan, the leading brand in the machining sector, with the need to produce parts to be used in the power transmission and suspension system of the vehicles it designs. Furkan Kıymaz, Suspension Designer at Formula Racing, explains how this cooperation developed as follows: "We need machining, casting and additive manufacturing processes for the production of parts whose R&D and P&D processes are carried out by us. In this context, when we started the production phase of the vehicle we designed, we wanted to communicate with various companies quickly in order to complete our assembly. Especially since we had a limited time, both market research and the offer evaluation process would significantly affect our progress. Would you share with us your experience of posting advertisements and agreements through this platform?

After becoming a member, it is not possible to post an advertisement without reaching a certain profile fullness. I see this as the right approach in terms of reliability and companies getting to know each other. After the profile is full enough, we can place our advertisement with information such as part name, number of parts, appropriate manufacturing method, technical drawing, delivery date, target price and additional explanations. Thanks to the platform's simple interface and understandability, we were able to quickly manage the advertisement process. After the advertisement was placed, we evaluated the incoming offers and tried to reach an agreement by contacting the companies we deemed appropriate. Although we have a lot of parts, being able to advertise for each of them free of charge and to receive feedback from manufacturers quickly made our work easier.
